Media Availability on National Migration Week 2017

The observance of National Migration Week began over 25 years ago, by the U.S. bishops. This year's theme is "Creating a Culture of Encounter."

A telephone media availability to highlight the importance of National Migration Week and the Catholic Church's work serving immigrants and refugees took place in January 12, during National Migration Week, observed January 8-14, 2017. 

Speakers were:

  • Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, Vice President of USCCB
  • Bishop Joe S. Vasquez of Austin, Texas, chairman, USCCB Committee on Migration
  • Ashley Feasley, USCCB/MRS policy director
  •  Norma Montenegro Flynn, moderator, USCCB Office of Public Affairs

Members of the USCCB Task Force to Promote Peace in Our Communities answer questions about the USCCB's Day of Prayer for Peace in Our Communities. They also address the work of the Task Force which was created to promote peace and healing.

WYD-2016 Update and Media Conference

Bishop Frank Caggiano and USCCB staff provide updates and information on the U.S. delegation to Krakow, and answer reporters' questions on U.S. bishops and pilgrim groups planning to attend, U.S. pilgrim gatherings in Krakow and stateside events.
