Proclaim Awards on Hiaitus for 2008
Due to several factors, including the reorganization of the staff at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the proposed visit by Pope Benedict XVI in mid-April to the United States, the Communications offices of the USCCB will not be awarding Proclaim Awards this year. We hope to re-evaluate the program in the second half of 2008.
We appreciate everyone's understanding in this. The decision to put the awards on hiatus in no way reflects the quality of the work that has been presented in the past. Many wonderful and enriching programs are being developed across our country, and we are grateful to those who put in extraordinary efforts to "proclaim the good news" using today's media.

Secretary of Communications
US Conference of Catholic Bishops
The Proclaim Awards were established to recognize outstanding achievements in diocesan communications. Each year, in dioceses across the country, Catholic communications personnel produce an amazing diversity of quality television, radio, print, and internet products, all with the common purpose of proclaiming the Good News. They stretch already tight budgets and get the most out of already overworked staffs to create programming that will educate and entertain; inform, as well as inspire.
Although their efforts are supported by their local share of the CCC Collection, the Proclaim Awards give us an opportunity to say thank you to these dedicated people, to give them the recognition they deserve before their colleagues and co-workers, and to highlight the fine work they are doing for the Church.
