Poverty and Solutions
By: Peter Brosnan

Poor People: In the United States, more than 30 million people live in or are close to poverty.

Oppression: Poverty affects both physical and mental health by wearing away the spirit to succeed, or to be successful again.

Victims: Many people are victims of poverty including one in six children in our country alone.

Eden, it is not: The Garden of Eden was a land of paradise for Adam and Eve. Poverty is the very opposite of Eden.

Rough: Poverty is rough on people’s lives and can destroy them and their families.

Terrible: Poverty is a terrible thing to happen to anyone.

You?: You could be next in “poverty’s eyes,” looking for its next victim.

Sacrifice: We should sacrifice our time in order to help others.

Obligation: We should help with poverty such as joining a group or helping out in soup kitchen.

Love: You could make a person in poverty feel happy to have someone help them.

Unity: We should all unite to help others who are less fortunate.

Teach: We should teach the children that most people in poverty cannot get a job because they couldn’t get a good education.

Inspire: We can inspire others to work hard to prevent poverty.

Organize: We can organize new groups to help prevent poverty from getting worse.

Nurture: We can take care of sick and homeless people by offering them shelter and work.

Solve: These are some of the ways we can try to end poverty.
