Fighting Against Injustice and Toward Harmony (FAITH)

Fighting Against Injustice and Toward Harmony (FAITH) was founded in 1997 to empower low to moderate income and ethnically diverse congregations. Its mission is to address the root causes of poverty and injustice in Daytona Beach, Florida and surrounding areas. Recently, FAITH's expansion efforts have brought about significant change for the working poor. On a daily basis, these folks often encountered long commutes and poor transportation service that made it almost impossible to reach their second and third shift jobs.

When Volusia County Council members voted down a proposal to expand public transportation services, more than 800 FAITH members turned out to voice their concerns. As a result, the council unanimously voted to approve approximately $500,000 in new transportation services. Beginning in January 2003, six new buses will also be added to service these low-income communities.
