PICO California Project

The PICO California Project is the united effort of 17 California congregation-based community organizations representing 350 congregations and 350,000 people statewide. Their purpose is to bring the voices and concerns of ordinary Californians to the statewide policy arena on issues related to the well-being of families.
The PICO California Project found that 7.3 million Californians were uninsured and that 82% of the uninsured were working families. Project members organized a 5,000 faxed letter campaign resulting in a policy to provide access to health insurance for more than 300,000 low-income families in the State of California.
