Brenda L. Rascher

Brenda Rascher is a full time Legal Services Staff Attorney with a Masters in Social Work. She is 46 years old and resides in Camden, NJ in the Diocese of Camden. Brenda is the 5th daughter of 7 daughters who all have been educated in Catholic Schools. Her father is an active 88 year-old who is an active 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Why is Brenda participating? As a legal service attorney, I work first hand with people who struggle to get out of poverty. Knowing that legal defenses don’t solve the long term problems, I frequently draw my MSW training in the hopes of educating and empowering my clients to move beyond the cycle of poverty they are living in. While I see some success, there’s a great deal of work to do—and it’s often overwhelming. So, I see my participation in this tour as a way to step back from my daily struggles with poverty for my clients, approach the issues in a different way, and to learn for myself new ideas and gain new strength for continuing to fight to put the brakes on poverty.
