Why is Eileen participating?
Initially, I really believe that if you are a Catholic, "service" to others is not "plan B"; it's not optional. Also, as a teacher and Director of Youth Ministry....I expect my students to participate in service projects as part of their preparation process. I don't expect them to do anything that I don't do myself. This participating with the Brake the Cycle group has provided me with the opportunity to learn more about poverty in our society, help others understand the existence and effects of poverty, especially on children, and do something with that information.
