Kurt Knotts

Kurt, age 32, is a hydrogeologist at an environmental consulting firm in Manchester, CT. He and his wife, fellow rider Kelly Knotts, enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, camping, and cross country skiing. Kurt and Kelly live in the Diocese of Hartford.

Why is Kurt participating?
Kurt unfortunately was not able to ride to Washington D.C. last year, but supported the team, trained with them, and met them in D.C. for the grand finale. The relationship he and Kelly shared with the group solidified into a real family. They are a team of Poverty Road Warriors, armed with faith and backed by CCHD, fighting the battle to brake the cycle of poverty.

In January of 2004, Kurt broke his leg in a fall on ice. That experience gave him perspective on what it means to struggle on a daily basis. His struggle was temporary, but the cycle of poverty continues every day. That's why he rides.
