Montrose, June 22

Day 22, Sunday
Ouray to Montrose, Colorado

We woke up at approximately at 9 am. Thank God we slept in. Myself and Chad loaded the truck and we all met at 10 am. Our ride started with a nice down hill and flat. Despite of the headwind we had, everybody enjoyed the ride, because it was only 37 mile.

There is a right time for everything
A time to be born, a time to die;
A time to plant;
A time to harvest;
A time to cry;
A time to laugh;
A time to have;
A time for loving;
A time for peace.
(Ecclesiastes 3:2-8)

Today was my time to get to enjoy our mother nature in the state of Colorado praying my morning rosary, but also to get to know more my friends and fellow riders. As soon as I got to the Parish Hall, I unloaded the truck with my fellow riders and afterwards my friend Brian and I went to the recreation center. We swim some laps and also we jumped into a nice Jacuzzi. It was very refreshing. I got back to the parish and I started doing my usual routine, which is cleaning my clothes and my best friend and tool my “Bike.” While I was working on my bike, my friend Dan showed up, it was a big surprise for me he showed me his priest ornaments and he also invited me to be in the 7 o’clock Hispanic mass.

At around 4:30pm we had a meeting to discuss the route for the next day, and then we had a 5 o’clock mass. The mass was beautiful especially because I got to hear a very deep and spiritual sermon of father Dan, my very good friend from the seminary. At the 7 o’clock mass father Dan introduced me to parishioners and also he asked me to explain why I was doing brake the cycle of poverty tour. I felt very comfortable because I talked in my native language Spanish I was able to deliver a really good speech about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, at the end of my speech the parishioners applauded me. After mass Monsignor took me to his place and I ate spaghetti for dinner. While I was eating father Dan showed up and invited me to go out for dinner, so I accepted his invitation. He took me to a really nice restaurant and I ate a delicious lobster tail. The time that I spent with Monsignor and father Dan was very encouraging and pleasant, because we shared in a nice conversation goals and challenges of our vocation. To finish my day, I prayed and wrote my journal.

May our dear Lord be with us all the time and our holy Mary protect us during our journey. Amen.
