Young Adult Ministry Meetings Slated for Washington, San Diego, Chicago
WASHINGTON (March 6, 1997) — Connecting With Young Adults, a leadership conference for parish, campus and diocesan leaders, will be offered in Washington, April 10-12; San Diego, May 1-3; and Chicago, June 5-7.
The program, Ministry With Young Adults, is a national Catholic initiative which is being directed by the Center for Ministry Development, Naugatuck, Connecticut. It is a project of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association, the National Catholic Young Adult Ministry Association in collaboration with the National Conference of Catholic Bishops' Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and Youth..
The Conference will explore how to implement Sons and Daughters of the Light, the U.S. Bishops' pastoral plan for ministry with young adults, and suggest new approaches and strategies to reach young adult Catholics, generally defined as those within the 18-35 age range.
Speakers include Father Ron Bagley and Joan Weber, of the Center for Ministry Development, Paul Henderson, Director of the Bishops' Secretariat for the Millennium and Jubilee Year 2000 and former adviser to the U. S. Bishops on youth and young adult issues and Sheila Garcia, Assistant Director of the Bishops' Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and Youth.
In addition to major addresses, the conference will include workshops on implementing the pastoral plan in parishes, dioceses and on campuses, and working with young adults in religious education, the marketplace, justice and service, faith sharing groups, spiritual development, and worship. It also will include sessions on organizing young adult ministry, evangelizing young adults, empowering young adults for leadership, empowering parish leaders, and multicultural ministry.
