Jubilee Resource for Young People
Available from U.S. Bishops

WASHINGTON (January 10, 2000) -- A youth and young adult oriented jubilee year guide has been published by the U.S. bishops' Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and Youth and is now available.
The new resource, The Youth and Young Adult Jubilee Guidebook - A Resource for Preparing and Celebrating Jubilee Year 2000, includes an overview of the Jubilee year, six group sessions for youth (junior high and high school students), and six group sessions for young adults (those in late teens, twenties and thirties, including college students).
The sessions have been adapted from the manual for Encuentro 2000 - Many Faces in God's House, a multi-cultural national Catholic gathering planned for July 2000.The guidebook is designed to be used with groups of youth or young adults at the diocesan or parish level, as well as other gatherings of young people through organizations or movements.
The Guidebook encourages the celebration of the Jubilee Year 2000 and indicates that the sessions can be used throughout the Jubilee Year to help persons reflect, pray and celebrate the global Catholic experience. The Guidebook also contains resources such as the Pope's Jubilee Prayer, the Jubilee Hymn, and a listing of celebrations for young people visiting Rome throughout the Jubilee Year.
Additional resources are included for those attending World Youth Day in Rome in August 2000 including the Pope's 2000 Message to Young People, prayer services for pilgrims, and suggestions for follow-up returning home after the pilgrimage.
The Guidebook is available on the U.S. bishops' website www.nccbuscc.org/laity in both English and Spanish. The printed English version can also be ordered for $6 from the Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and Youth by calling 202-541-3040. Order forms are also available on the website.
