WASHINGTON (December 10, 2004)– The Department of Communications of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) announced that streaming video of portions of the proceedings from the USCCB's Fall General Meeting in Washington, DC, will continue to be available on the Conference website through January 3, 2005.

The special streaming video page for the meeting has been accessible via the Conference website (www.usccb.org) since the opening day of the meeting, November 15th. It includes excerpts from the USCCB elections, during which a new president and vice president of the Conference were elected; the daily press conferences held at the end of the morning and afternoon sessions on Monday and Wednesday of the meeting; an interview with Bishop William S. Skylstad, the new president of the USCCB; and a short video biography of Bishop Skylstad.

The general meeting of the USCCB was held at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, November 15– 17. Among other actions at the meeting, the Bishops approved the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, voted to begin a long-term project for a National Pastoral Initiative on Marriage, agreed to participate in a new ecumenical forum Christian Churches Together in the USA, approved a plan to continue compliance audits to measure how well dioceses are complying with the provisions of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, and created an ad hoc committee to help the Church in Africa.
