Joyce Jones Named USCCB Chief Financial Officer


WASHINGTON—Joyce Jones, a certified public accountant who has worked in finance at George Washington University and in offices of the District of Columbia, has been named chief financial officer of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Ms. Jones began her new position December 18.

"I am delighted to welcome Joyce Jones to the USCCB," said Msgr. David Malloy, USCCB general secretary. "Joyce has an impressive background and brings important financial skills to the Conference at a time of fiscal challenges for all organizations in our nation, and for the Church as well," he said.

Ms. Jones' previous position, which she held from September 2005 to August 2008, was with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, where she was Director of Administration, Office of Administration, Division of Engineering Services. Previous positions included chief financial officer for the DC Sports and Entertainment Commission, where she worked from 1999-2005, and business manager at the Business Division of The George Washington University, where she worked from 1993-1999.

As CFO, Ms. Jones is responsible for aligning USCCB financial activities with the Conference's strategic objectives. She oversees systems development, budgeting, internal control systems, accounting practices, reporting and financial analysis to assure fiscal responsibility and integrity. She is primary staff person to the bishops' Committee on Budget and Finance, the Audit Sub-Committee, and is staff to the Committee on Priorities and Plans.

Ms. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. She also participated in Senior Executive in State and Local Government and Protecting Public programs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
