Barbara Humphrey McCrabb Named USCCB Assistant Director For Higher Education
WASHINGTON—Barbara Humphrey McCrabb, a campus minister with over 20 years of experience in faith formation, was named Assistant Director for Higher Education in the Secretariat of Catholic Education at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
“I am delighted to have Barbara Humphrey McCrabb join the Secretariat of Catholic Education,” said the secretariat's executive director, Marie A. Powell. “Barbara brings extensive experience as a campus minister at both Catholic and secular universities. She has been involved in numerous faith formation projects for college age students and in promoting the Catholic identity of institutions of higher learning. Barbara is a welcome addition to our staff.”
McCrabb served as Director of Campus Ministry at Trinity Washington University from 2003 to 2009, also serving as Associate Dean of Students from 2005 to 2009. She also served as Associate Roman Catholic Chaplain at Georgetown University from 1994 to 2003 and as Director of the Campus Ministry Mentoring Program at the U.S. Catholic Conference (precursor to the USCCB) from 1993 to 2000. She served on the executive board of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA) from 1991 to 1994. She previously did campus ministry work in Florida and Missouri.
McCrabb is the 2000 recipient of the Charles Forsythe Award, the most prestigious award given by the CCMA to a campus minister who demonstrates outstanding leadership.
McCrabb holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Washington Theological Union, a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry from St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla., and a Bachelor's degree from Kent State University, Ohio.
