Our Sunday Visitor Inc. will donate $500,000 to support the National Conference of Catholic Bishops' (NCCB) Office for the Catechism. The grant, which will be given in five annual installments of $100,000 each, was announced by Bishop John M. D'Arcy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Our Sunday Visitor, Inc., in a Dec. 31 letter to Bishop Anthony M. Pilla, President of the NCCB.

Today the House of Representatives voted 220 to 209 in favor of the Clinton Administration's resolution to release an additional $123 million to family planning groups including those which promote and perform abortions overseas.

Pope John Paul II has named Bishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M., Cap., of Rapid City, South Dakota, to be Archbishop of Denver. He succeeds Archbishop J. Francis Stafford who last August was appointed President of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Laity.
