Duties: As an Assistant District Attorney and the Bureau Chief of the Sex Crimes
and Special Bureau, I managed the day-to-day prosecution of cases in the County
involving sex offenses and child abuse. I developed office policy on the path
these cases would take, through final disposition. This included all
recommendations and approval for plea negotiations, grand jury investigations
and presentations, trials and sentencings. My staff consisted of approximately 50
individuals, including 15 Assistant District Attorney in both Criminal and
Supreme Court, paralegal, secretaries, clerks, detectives, investigators and child
advocate specialists. |

NEW YORK CITY CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
Duties: As a Special Assistant Attorney General, my duties included:
supervising investigations into allegations of corruption within the New York City
Criminal Justice System; presenting charges to the Grand Jury, and prosecuting
cases on the Trial and the Appellate level. I also investigated and tried several
high profile cases, (such as the "Howard Beach Case") which resulted in several
indictments, pleas, two trials (one with two juries) and several convictions and
the 77th Precinct Police Corruption Scandal. I also conducted lectures at the
NYPD Academy on the role of the Special Prosecutor, and performed all other
functions, involving litigation of the People's case. |

Duties: As an Assistant Deputy Public Defender, I tried over seventy-five cases
May 1984 through verdict on the Superior Court level. My other duties included bench
trials, motion practice, sentencing, brief writing, oral argument, hearings,
jail visits, criminal investigations, post conviction relief hearings and office supervision. I also drafted over thirty appeals and participated in several oral arguments on the
Appellate and the Supreme Court of New Jersey level. I won the first clemency
in the state for a battered woman. |
