Distance Learning Programs

Deacons frequently ask about distance learning programs that might be available to continue their education and formation after ordination. Many dioceses, Catholic colleges and universities offer classes locally in which deacons may participate. However, for those deacons who live at some distance from a center of Catholic higher education, the following list may be of service.

Note that the schools identified by following the link below were identified as the result of a recent national survey conducted by the USCCB on "Lay Perspectives on Parish Life." Many people indicated a desire to increase their knowledge about the Church, and the following resources were identified. While the focus of this survey was on the laity, it should be noted that many of the institutions listed offer specific courses and programs for deacons as well.
