The Ad Hoc Committee for
the Review of Scripture Translations
In November 1991, the National Conference of Catholic Bishops approved the designation of an ad hoc committee to act as agent for the conference in granting the approval for translations of the scriptures in accord with canon 825 of the Code of Canon Law. The episcopal members who comprise the committee, along with a team of competent and dedicated scripture scholars, serve the conference in reviewing translations of the sacred scriptures intended for use by U.S. Catholics.
Publishers and individuals who are considering submitting a scripture translation for the conference's approval are encouraged to contact the Secretariat for Doctrine and Pastoral Practices directly at 202-541-3015 for more detailed information about the requisite procedure.
