Regardless of when the abuse
occurred, a cleric against whom there is an established or admitted act of
child sexual abuse is permanently removed from the priesthood. There is no
statute of limitations for removing a cleric who has sexual abused a minor from
public ministry in the Catholic Church. This year 172 priests were removed for
past abuse first reported this year. Find more information in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
The following are resources dioceses/eparchies may find useful in making the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People part of what we do as Church.

Dioceses/eparchies can voluntarily use these resources to help their parishes assist overseas partners in better protecting children and healing survivors of abuse.
