The National Coordinator for Human Mobility Apostolates is planning to develop a national network of those persons involved in a Tourism Apostolate. We have begun to reach out to all those providing pastoral care at our various parks, including national, sport, state, theme, or amusement parks. We have also reached out to those who are providing pastoral care to tourists at major resort centers, conference centers, convention centers, and recreational locations such as beaches, casinos, racetracks and hotels. The Tourism Apostolate will also minister to those working at and attending major events that attract millions of people, such as festivals, expositions, fairs, sporting events, concerts, and conventions. All of these events provide an opportunity for appropriate pastoral care.
This year, the official World Tourism Day program will occur on September 27, 2014 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The focus of the celebration is Community Development. Visit the World Tourism Day website for more information on the festivities and how to get involved.
