The Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in America

Don't miss the NEW Participant Guidebook and Journal (E-Book | PDF)
and the May Newsletter!

The theme for the 2017 Convocation of Catholic Leaders is

This summer, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops will be convening an unprecedented gathering of key leaders from dioceses and Catholic organizations from all across the country in order to assess the challenges and opportunities of our time, particularly in the context of the Church in the United States. This has been an ongoing initiative of the Bishops' Working Group on the Life and Dignity of the Human Person. The gathering will assemble Catholic leaders for a strategic conversation, under the leadership of the bishops, on forming missionary disciples to animate the Church and to engage the culture.

The Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in America will be held in Orlando, Florida, from Saturday, July 1, to Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Inspired by Evangelii Gaudium, the Convocation will form leaders who will be equipped and re-energized to share the Gospel as missionary disciples, while offering fresh insights informed by new research, communications strategies, and successful models.

As this is an invitation-only event, you will need your diocese's or your Catholic organization's access code to register for the Convocation and for housing. If you have questions about registration, please email us.

More on the Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in America:

Inspired by Evangelii Gaudium, the Convocation of Catholic Leaders will form missionary disciples to share the Gospel.

Book - The Joy of the Gospel - Pope Francis Apostolic Exhortation - Evangelii Gaudium[I]n every community, in every parish and institution, in every diocese and circumscription, in every region, try to launch, in a synodal fashion, a deep reflection on the Evangelii Gaudium, to draw from it practical parameters and to launch its dispositions ... I am certain of your capacity to put yourselves into a creative movement in order to make this study practical. (Address of the Holy Father while Meeting with the Participants in the Fifth Convention of the Italian Church, 10 November 2015)

I dream of a "missionary option," that is, a missionary impulse capable of transforming everything so that the Church's customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channeled for the evangelization of today's world rather than for her self-preservation. (Evangelii Gaudium 27)
