Promoting the universal call to holiness, the Secretariat of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth serves one standing committee and one subcommittee for the Bishops: the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth and its subcommittee, the Subcommittee on Marriage and Family.
Each committee is composed of an elected Bishop Chairman, as well as Bishop members from different parts of the country, advisors, and consultants who have particular expertise in areas of interest to the Committee. Committees are established for a term of three years and generally meet 2-3 times a year.
