Marriage and Family Life Symposium
Enduring Truths, Changing Realities
The national symposium on "Marriage and Family Life: Enduring Truths, Changing Realities" drew an audience of nearly four hundred. Lay persons, religious, deacons, priests, and bishops came to the Washington DC area in August 2001 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Familiaris Consortio -- Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Exhortation on the Family.
We thank the many people who participated (from 44 U.S. states and three foreign countries) and the many whose efforts made the program possible. Visit the links below to review selected photos and comments from participants! Together, we realized three goals of the symposium:
Explore this website to find: information about the symposium and its speakers, a news article about it, many photos of speakers and participants, and some selected comments from those who attended.
Additionally, the Holy Father acknowledged the event by sending a special message of greeting and blessing.
At a future date, we will post a summary of recommendations given by the participants to the Committee on Marriage and Family Life.
