1997 FDLC Seattle National Meeting

The National Meeting of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions is co-sponsored annually by the NCCB Committee on the Liturgy and the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. In addition to reports from Archbishop Jerome G. Hanus, O.S.B. and Reverend Edward Hislop, chairmen of the BCL and FDLC respectively, the 603 attendees participated in a panel discussion consisting of FDLC and BCL Secretariat personnel.

Four major addresses were given on the theme The Three Days: Immersion into the Paschal Mystery. Reverend Christopher Wilcock, S.J. of the United Faculty of Theology in Melbourne presented the opening talk entitled Blessing a Promising God: The Exultet as a Great Prayer of Thanksgiving. Reverend James P. Moroney, Executive Director of the NCCB Secretariat for the Liturgy addressed reflected on the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper in an address entitled This, All of You: A Night Without Compromise. The Good Friday reflection was led by Reverend Edward Foley, OFM.Cap. as Day of the Cross: The Friday We Call Good. Finally, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Initiation and the Easter Vigil was presented by Ms. Victoria M. Tufano, editor of the journal Catechumenate and Reverend Don Neumann, a major contributor to the LTP video, This is the Night.

The third annual Monsignor Frederick R. McManus award for outstanding contribution to pastoral liturgy was awarded to Dr. John Page, Executive Secretary of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy.
