Anne of Green Gables -- Charming dramatization of the Lucy Maud Montgomery novel about a spunky teenaged orphan (Anne Shirley) who overcomes assorted obstacles to win the hearts of a taciturn farmer (O.P. Heggie) and his domineering sister (Helen Westley) on Canada's Prince Edward Island at the turn of the century. Directed by George Nicholls, the story of a lonely waif finding the loving home of her dreams has special appeal for young viewers while reminding older ones of youth's yearning for unconditional love. Fine family fare. (A-I) (nr) (1934)
