April Love -- Thin but pleasant musical romance in which a young man (Pat Boone) begins to enjoy his stay on his uncle's Kentucky horse farm after meeting the neighbor's daughter (Shirley Jones) and they start training an entry for a big trotting race. Directed by Henry Levin, the formula proceedings are held together by the easy-going songs, the personable performances of singers Boone and Jones and, not least, the lovely Blue Grass scenery. Wholesome family fare. (A-I) (br) (1957)
