Daddy Nostalgia -- Following her father's near-fatal heart attack, a middle-aged daughter (Jane Birkin) tries to form closer ties with her frightened mother (Odette Laure) and vulnerable father (Dirk Bogarde). French director Bertrand Tavernier elicits luminous performances that enable the theme of reconciliation to emerge with emotional honesty from the film's deliberately slow pace and lack of high drama. Subtitles. Serious treatment of mortality. (A-II) (PG) 1991
