Damned in the U.S.A. -- British television documentary on the 1990 controversy over the National Endowment for the Arts funding of sexually explicit and anti-religious works as well as the obscenity trial of the 2 Live Crew rap group. Director Paul Yule presents both points of view through TV news coverage of events, interviews with those against pornography (notably Rev. Donald Wildmon of the American Family Association) and those for free expression (notably Cincinnati museum director Dennis Barrie) and a running commentary on the issues by Boston topical humorist Jimmy Tingle. Some brief shots of the works in question and occasional rough language. (A-IV) (nr) 1992
