Dance of Death -- Claustrophobic rendering of Strindberg's play about an embittered army captain (Laurence Olivier) commander of a remote and unimportant fortress off the coast of Sweden and his love/hate relationship with his wife (Geraldine McEwan). Director David Giles preserves the relentless pessimism of the play which expresses the dreary results of the couple's inability to find the grace of reconciliation. (A-III) (G/PG) 1979
