  • Dancers in the Dark -- Muddled romantic melodrama set in a dime-a-dance joint where the bandleader (Jack Oakie) tries to bust up the romance between his saxophone player (William Collier, Jr.) and one of the dancers (Miriam Hopkins), then falls for her himself while a tough crook (George Raft) waits his chance with her. Directed by David Burton, the murky proceedings don't add up to much but the troubled characters hold interest, helped by some snappy dialogue and Depression-era comic relief. Romantic complications and some heavy sexual innuendo. (A-III) (br) 1931
