  • Dark Blue World -- Routine war drama about two Czech pilots (Ondrej Vetchy and Krystof Hadek) serving in Britain's Royal Air Force during World War II who fall in love with the same British woman (Tara Fitzgerald). Despite beautiful cinematography and a heart-warming message of sacrificial love among friends, director Jan Sverak's flashback narrative remains grounded, with an ill-developed subplot about the 1950's Czechoslovakian labor camp that might have been more interesting than the main story. Brief sexual encounters, intermittent war violence, some nudity and minimal crass language. A-III -- adults. (R) 2002
