Dark Journey -- Muddled spy melodrama of World War I follows two master agents (Vivien Leigh and Conrad Veidt) to neutral Stockholm where they fall in love, though on opposite sides. Director Victor Saville's shadowy tale of spy and counterspy is filled with period detail and a properly tense atmosphere but the bittersweet romance of the two secret agents seems as counterfeit as their assumed identities. Wartime menace and romantic complications. (A-II) (br) 1937
