  • Dark Obsession -- Caring nothing that he has killed a woman in a hit-and-run accident and that one of the passengers (Douglas Hodge) may go to the police, a wealthy English aristocrat (Gabriel Byrne) is consumed by the fear that his wife (Amanda Donohoe) is unfaithful. Director Nick Broomfield's murky tale of violent sexual obsession offers a world of callous immorality where the sole well-intentioned character pays dearly for his pangs of conscience. A number of explicit sexual encounters, other scenes with nudity, implied incest, calculated indifference to human life and minimal rough language. (O) (NC-17) 1991

    Movies have been evaluated by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop's Office for Film and Broadcasting according to artistic merit and moral suitability. The reviews include the USCCB rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    The classifications are as follows:

    • A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    • A-III -- adults;
    • A-IV**
    • L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
