D.A.R.Y.L.
-- Sci-fi version of Pinocchio in which government scientists experimenting with artificial intelligence develop a robot that is like a boy in almost every respect. Some nasty higher-ups decide to put an end to the project when the robot transforms into a living boy with loving foster parents. Predictable story line but director Simon Wincer maintains interest and save for a few ill-considered vulgar expletives, it would have been quite suitable for young children. (A-II) (PG)
