Goofy Movie, A
-- One of the stalwarts of the early Mickey Mouse cartoons was the sweetly dizzy pooch, Goofy, who deserves better than this flat, hokey animated feature which transforms him into a dopey single dad (voice of Bill Farmer) trying to win over his surly adolescent son, Max (voice of Jason Marsden). Directed by Kevin Lima, the tiresome story revolves around a camping trip upon which the dull father drags the unwilling son who's nursing a bad case of puppy love which sets up some saccharine songs, a couple of slapstick near-disasters on the road and an occasional weak smile. A few scary moments for pre-schoolers and much tedium for the rest of the family. (A-I) (G)
