It Happens Every Spring
-- Lightweight but very enjoyable comedy about a chemistry professor (Ray Milland) who concocts a wood-repellent formula that makes baseballs immune to contact with bats. Directed by Lloyd Bacon, the comic premise turns the prof into an instant big-league star whose pitches defy top-hitting batters and confound his veteran catcher (Paul Douglas). Family fun, even for those who don't like baseball. (A-I) (br)
