Pebble and the Penguin, The
-- Amiable animated tale in which a stuttering, lovestruck penguin (voice of Martin Short) seeks, with the grudging aid of a resourceful pal (voice of James Belushi), to return to his true love (voice of Annie Golden) after being tossed into the churning sea by a romantic rival (voice of Tim Curry). The Don Bluth production is a peppy, colorful treat for pre-schoolers though adults may not be as engaged by the thin story and routine music numbers by Barry Manilow. (A-I) (G)
