MRS > Migration Policy and Public Affair Office > Welcoming the Stranger: Unity in Diversity - Diocesan Action Plan Summaries
The goal of the Welcoming the Stranger: Unity in Diversity regional training program, held from November of 2001 until June 2003, was inspire and “jump-start” dioceses in the process of devising plans to “welcome the stranger” within their own diocesan ministries and parishes. Since that time, we have received over 50 completed plans from dioceses throughout the United States.
The MRS/PCMR staff is posting the following summaries of these plans on our website to inspire dioceses to learn from one another. Although some plans have similar elements, no two plans are alike. Many new ideas can be garnered by reading through the summaries for each region. We hope that these ideas will encourage and motivate you as you enhance and further develop your own plans for welcoming and appropriately integrating newcomers, ethnic communities and people on the move within your own local context.
If elements of a particular plan interest you and you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact the PCMR Education and Development Coordinator (contact info appears at the end of the page). The Education Coordinator can share further details and help put you in touch with the diocesan coordinator of the Welcoming the Stranger initiative for any plan that is posted on this site.
