This program is funded on a per capita basis by the U.S. Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (DOS/PRM). The grant supports basic resettlement services to newly arriving refugees sponsored under USCCB/MRS auspices.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provides USCCB/MRS a grant for the processing, reception and placement of Cuban and Haitian Entrants paroled by DHS into the U.S. through a program called the Cuban/Haitian Primary/Secondary Resettlement Program. This program is housed in the USCCB/MRS Miami Office.
The Department of Health and Human Services/Office of Refugee Resettlement (HHS/ORR) Voluntary Agency Matching Grant Program facilitates early economic self-sufficiency through intensive employment and other services for newly arrived refugees. USCCB/MRS and the more than sixty participating dioceses generate at least 50% match in cash and in-kind contributions for each $2.25 in federal funds expended.
This grant, funded by ORR, provides enhanced services to newly arrived refugees at sights selected for their proven success in resettlement, under the Preferred Communities Program.
This HHS/ORR grant provides long term foster care placements, transitional foster care services, suitability assessments and related follow up services to unaccompanied alien children who have been apprehended and are in the custody of ORR. Services for foster care placement are through the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) network, which consists of child welfare agencies throughout the U.S. working with USCCB/MRS to provide services to undocumented children.
This HHS/ORR funded cooperative agreement supports USCCB/MRS efforts to support service providers working with refugee youth, children, and families through targeted local trainings, development of original resources and access to information resources through its Web site and online clearinghouse.
BRYCS Technical Assistance is provided to reduce the risk of child maltreatment by strengthening the capacity of the HHS/ORR Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Services (HHS/ORR/DUCS) funded care provider programs to ensure the safety and well-being of these minors while they are in federal custody.
This grant, funded through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, develops a gaps analysis of the needs of Maya language speakers, a medical interpreter train-the-trainer curriculum, and a toolkit to enable service providers to better meet the needs of Maya language speakers.
The Anti-Trafficking Services Program is funded on a per capita basis by HHS/ORR. Through a network of provider subcontractors, USCCB/MRS administers these funds for the provision of comprehensive case management to meet the need of individuals identified as victims of human trafficking throughout the U.S.
