Passing on Hope: Former Refugees Helping New Refugees

Every year, USCCB/MRS and the network of more than 100 diocesan resettlement agencies guide thousands of refugees to new and safer lives through resettlement in the United States. However, millions of refugees around the world continue to emerge in the wake of war, persecution, and repression. USCCB/MRS stands up for the rights of people whose home country offers them no true safety or opportunity – and for people whose situations force them to migrate.
"Thank you for giving
me the opportunity to
help other refugees to
come to the U.S. I thank
you from all my heart
for making it possible
for me to be here and
find my home and my
country, my freedom and
my dignity and a better
life for my child.

- Passing on Hope Donor

Through the USCCB/MRS Passing On Hope – Former Refugees Helping New Refugees program, individuals who have already been resettled in the United States are able to help refugees who still spend their lives in despair and fear amidst the miserable conditions of a refugee camp.

The donations made by these former refugees support USCCB/MRS’ work to pass on hope for a new life of peace and freedom to refugees who have been forced to flee from their homes and countries.
