Holy Hours

In their pastoral resource,Popular Devotional Practices, the U.S. bishops remind us that since the liturgy is the center of the life of the Church, popular devotions should be in harmony with the liturgy, drawing inspiration from it and ultimately leading back to it. While the liturgy always remains the primary reference point, "the liturgy and popular piety are two forms of worship which are in mutual and fruitful relationship with each other."

Holy hours are the Roman Catholic devotional tradition of spending an hour in Eucharistic adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The bishops have created a variety of holy hours that focus our prayer to Jesus Christ on peace, life, vocations, and other topics that are at the heart of the life of the Church and the world.
