Today is also the feast day of Juan Diego, the first indigenous American saint who was canonized by Blessed John Paul II in 2002. Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to St. Juan Diego on a hillside near Mexico City in 1531. Even though Juan Diego's feast day is superseded this year by an Advent Sunday, you can remember him with this prayer for his intercession on behalf of migrants and refugees.
