Memorial of Saint John Neumann, Bishop

  • Today, we celebrate the feast day of St. John Neumann, Missionary and 4th bishop of Philadelphia and founder of the first diocesan Catholic school system in U.S. Learn more about this important figure in American Catholic history.
  • Help youth in your family, parish or school share their Christmas joy and put love in action by participating in the Multi-Media Youth Contest.
  • What have you heard about the Year of Faith that began last October?  Pope Benedict XVI chose to begin the year on October 11, 2012, the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  He said "This will be a good opportunity to usher the whole Church into a time of particular reflection and rediscovery of the faith." Learn how this special year is linked to the call for a "New Evangelization."
