Mission Statement
The Secretariat for African American Catholics serves as the chief advisor to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in fulfilling its ministry to African American Catholics in the United States. The Secretariat has as its function the coordination of responses regarding ministry, evangelization, and worship in the African American Community on the national level. The work of the Secretariat is guided by the Bishops' Committee on African American Catholics (BCAAC). The BCAAC's primary mission is to encourage the development and assist in the implementation of pastoral programs that evangelize and incorporate racial, ethnic and cultural groups of African descent within the United States into the life of the Church.
