A Just and Fair Workplace: Principles and Practices for Catholic Health Care

Statement by Sister Mary Roch Rocklage, RSM

This working paper engages the issue of the Catholic Church's understanding of a just work place. It is a critical discussion, not only for health care ministries, but for all areas of service and ministry within the Catholic Church. The working paper is also an important contribution to the crucial process of developing and maintaining a just work environment, now and in the future, for all of society.

The value of this document is its challenge. It challenges everyone --especially leadership-- to study and reflect upon the core understanding of a just work place and what is required of all of us in our relationships with one another in the work environment.

This document is not the answer to every question or issue that may arise in diverse situations around the country, but I believe that understanding its core message will be a guide and can assist us in making good --and just-- decisions.
