A Place at the Table
Resources for Parishes
and Dioceses
As Catholics, we must come together with a common conviction that we can no longer tolerate the moral scandal of poverty in our land and so much hunger and deprivation in our world. As believers, we can debate how best to overcome these realities, but we must be united in our determination to do so. Our faith teaches us that poor people are not issues or problems but sisters and brothers in God's one human family.
Welcome to the web site for the U.S. bishops' statement, A Place at the Table: A Catholic Recommitment to Overcome Poverty and to Respect the Dignity of All God's Children. We hope the resources you'll find here will help you reflect and act on this important message, which calls all Catholics--pastors and parishioners, Catholic educators, leaders, and citizensto be "ever more faithful witnesses of God's love and justice, protecting the dignity of all God's children, especially the poor and vulnerable." As our nation and world confront terrorism, war, and violence, the statement recalls the words of Pope Paul VI, "If you want peace, work for justice."
At this time, parts of this web site have been completed while others have not. We hope you return often as additional resources are completed.
