NFP national providers offer a variety of services and resources. All provide client and teacher education. Most offer NFP education designed for specific groups such as health care professionals and clergy. Some offer chastity education for youth and their parents. Many publish resources, including brochures, booklets, and CDs.  All have their own websites. Contact an NFP provider directly to locate their NFP teachers in your area!

How to use this Directory
This Directory lists the diocesan NFP coordinator or contact person per each diocese. To find an NFP class in your locale, choose the State and the diocese within the State that you are interested in.  The diocesan NFP coordinator is the person to contact about classes near your home.  For your convenience, the diocesan website links are provided.

Please note: due to the variety of schools and systems of Natural Family Planning methods, this directory makes use of the two umbrella terms, “Cervical Mucus Method” (CMM) and “Sympto-Thermal Method” (STM) to indicate which general methods are provided in a diocese.  For more information about particular NFP methods provided in a diocese, please consult the diocese’s website or contact the diocesan NFP coordinator.

Glossary

Cervical Mucus Method (CMM)
Approximately at the time of a woman’s ovulation, a type of mucus is secreted by the cervix.  This primary sign of fertility indicates when a woman is potentially fertile.  The woman’s correct observation of her cervical mucus is the basis of all cervical mucus methods (CMM).   

All CMMs are reliant on the extensive research and influence of Drs. John and Evelyn Billings.  The variety of cervical mucus methods rests on the differences in approach to the observation of cervical mucus (e.g., sensation, sight, and/or touch).  The guidelines for interpretation of cervical mucus vary per CMM approach.  Many dioceses use the term, “OM” to reference the cervical mucus method provided.

Sympto-Thermal Method (STM)
Sympto-thermal methods are multi-indexed methods of NFP. A woman is taught to observe her multiple signs of fertility. 

ST methods teach a woman to observe her primary signs of fertility (cervical mucus, basal body temperature, and cervical changes).  The secondary signs of fertility (breast tenderness, back pain, etc.) are also taught. 

Among STM providers, variations exist in some rules, charting two or more of the primary signs of fertility, as well as differences in chart symbols.  Despite the variations, all refer to the multi-indexed methods as “STM.”

Please note: currently only one multi-indexed method of NFP makes use of a hormonal monitor, the “Marquette Model.”  This model is a “Sympto-Hormonal Method” (SHM).  This directory does not indicate which dioceses provide SHM.  Please contact the diocesan NFP coordinator or visit the diocesan website to find which methods are provided in a particular diocese.
