General Guidelines

  1. The approved logos may be reproduced in the English or Spanish or the bilingual English/Spanish format. They may not be translated into other languages.

  2. The approved logos must be reproduced in their entirety and without alteration. No text or images may be added or subtracted from the logos.

  3. The approved logos may be reproduced in black and white or in the following colors:  Logo Download Page

  4. Use of the approved logos does not imply approval of the entity using the logo or any material that accompanies the logo.

  5. The approved logos may not be used on any product or item that a reasonable person may view as contradicting Church teaching or demeaning the Catholic Church or its leaders.

  6. The USCCB copyright (© 2015 USCCB. All rights reserved.) must be included with each use.

Guidelines for Media Use

  1. Media, including print and digital media, may use the logo without permission, subject to the general guidelines, to promote or accompany their coverage of the 2015 Visit of Pope Francis, provided that such use is in accord with their regular operations.

  2. Media use of the approved logos does not imply approval of the contents by United States Conference of Catholic Bishops of the media coverage.

  3. Creation by media of commemorative products (e.g., booklets) regarding the visit are subject to the "Guidelines for Commercial Use."

Guidelines for Non-Commercial Use

Note: Non-commercial use is defined as use by dioceses, parishes, schools, and Catholic organizations on products to promote the 2015 Visit of Pope Francis to the United States, provided that such products are distributed without charge or for a charge not to exceed actual cost of production. Included in non-commercial use would be items such as banners to accompany parish pilgrimages or parish t-shirts sold for the cost of production.

  1. The above-referenced non-profit entities may use the logo without prior permission, subject to the general guidelines, to promote the 2015 Visit of Pope Francis to the faithful and other people of good will.

  2. No royalties or fees will be assessed on such uses.

Guidelines for Commercial Use

Note: Commercial use is defined as any use by for-profit entities or as use by a non-profit entity on products to be sold for more than the cost of production, e.g., items use to raise funds for travel to papal events, commemorative booklets or other items, etc.

  1. Commercial use of the approved logos will require a license agreement and payment of a licensing fee.

  2. Licensing terms should be requested prior to the manufacturing and distribution of the item(s) bearing the logo.

  3. Requests for a license should be directed to the Associate Director for Permissions at @email. Requests should include the following information: name and contact information (contact person, address, telephone number, email address) of the requester, description of the proposed use (accompanied by photos or prototypes if possible), proposed manufacturing run, proposed list price.

  4. License requests will be reviewed within ten (10) business days and approved requests will be offered a license agreement.

  5. Payment of the licensing fee is required upon signing the agreement and prior to the manufactire and distribution of the item(s) bearing the logo.

  6. Two copies of each item licensed must be sent to the USCCB upon manufacture.
