Artificial Intelligence
“Artificial intelligence... requires responsibility and discernment in order to ensure it can be used for the good of all, so that it can benefit all of humanity.”
Pope Leo XIV
Address to Representatives of the Media, May 2025
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has expressed its positions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) through a pastoral statement for Labor Day and a principles letter to Congress. These resources build upon Catholic Social Teaching and the Holy See’s document on AI, Antiqua et Nova, stating clearly that AI must serve humanity and the common good of all people.
