Laudato Si' Leadership Cohort

The Laudato Si' Leadership Cohort prepares diocesan leaders to create achievable Laudato Si’ action plans to transform their communities, responding to Pope Francis’ reminder that “everything is interconnected, and that genuine care for our own lives and our relationships with nature is inseparable from fraternity, justice and faithfulness to others” (Laudato Si’, 70). Cohort members are given the tools, expertise, and accompaniment to make concrete plans for their dioceses to respond to this call.

The USCCB hosted the first Laudato Si’ Leadership Cohort in January 2026 with representation from 19 dioceses. Participation is open to diocesan representatives, appointed by their bishop, who have knowledge of local strengths and challenges.

Applications for the 2027 cohort are anticipated to open in the Fall of 2026.

The Laudato Si' Leadership Cohort is a collaboration between the USCCB and the Diocese of Lexington, sponsored by The Catholic Extension Society and The Crimsonbridge Foundation. Additional resources on Laudato Si' can be found on the USCCB's Environmental Justice Program webpage.
